What is EFT Tapping?

The Benefits of EFT Tapping

Those who use EFT Tapping say they experience:

  • Immediate relief from stress, anxiety, and overwhelm

  • A sense of calm and clarity, even in emotionally charged situations

  • Reduction in self-criticism, perfectionism, and negative self-talk

  • Release of fear, guilt, shame, and other stored emotions

  • Greater emotional resilience and self-awareness

  • Reprogramming of limiting beliefs that hold them back

  • A shift in patterns of procrastination, avoidance, or self-sabotage

Today I want to talk about something people ask me about all the time… What EFT is and how tapping actually works in the body.

We’re going to keep it simple and easy to follow, because it really is simple once you understand it.

So let’s start with the basics. EFT uses light tapping with awareness.

One of the clearest things we know is that tapping sends a calming signal to the amygdala. The amygdala is the part of your brain that decides if something is a threat. When you tap, your brain gets the message that the danger has passed. The alarm turns down. Your nervous system settles. And your body starts to feel safe again. That’s why people often feel calmer within a few minutes. It’s not magic. It’s your biology doing its job.

Now let’s talk about fascia for a second. Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around everything in your body. Muscles, organs, all of it. Scientists used to think it was just a stretchy wrapper, but now we know it’s active and responsive. It’s full of collagen, and collagen is a conductor. That means fascia helps carry signals through the body. Researchers believe it plays a role in how the body reacts to stress and how it releases stress. We’re still learning, but we know it’s involved.

And then there’s the Primo Vascular System. This part is really interesting. The PVS has been proven in multiple studies. It’s a real system that runs through the body along your blood vessels and your lymphatic system. It carries a special type of fluid, and signals move through it very quickly.

What’s fascinating is that the PVS lines up with the same meridian pathways used in acupuncture and tapping. And meridians aren’t just theories anymore. They’ve been mapped.

There was even a study where one group tapped on the real meridian points and another group tapped on “sham points,” basically fake points. Both groups tapped, but only the real-point group saw a big drop in cortisol, which is your stress hormone. The fake-point group didn’t. That tells us the points matter. Your body recognizes them.

So when you’re tapping, you’re not just calming your mind. You’re talking to real systems in the body. The amygdala gets the message that you’re safe. Fascia responds. The PVS carries signals almost instantly. All of this helps your body release stress and come back into balance.

Fast isn’t fake. Your body is designed to recognize safety quickly.

This is why tapping works for emotional patterns, limiting beliefs, and stored stress. You’re not forcing anything. You’re creating the conditions your body needs to finally let go.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, tapping gives you a simple way to reconnect with yourself. You get to choose what you focus on. You get to choose the pace. And your body takes it from there.
