Is Manifesting Wrong? How to Seek God’s Will While Pursuing Your Dreams

Is Manifesting Wrong? How to Seek God's Will While Pursuing Your Dreams

I’ve thought a lot about the idea of manifesting and whether it aligns with God’s will. Maybe you’ve wrestled with this too—Is it wrong to want something and work toward it? Am I trying to control things instead of trusting God?

For a long time, I felt torn. On one hand, I knew I was created with desires and the ability to act on them. On the other, I wanted to be careful not to overstep—forcing my will instead of aligning with God’s.

Through study, prayer, and personal experience, I’ve come to understand that manifestation isn’t about controlling outcomes; it’s about removing the blocks within us that prevent us from receiving the good that God is already offering. Our fears, doubts, and limiting beliefs often get in the way more than anything external.

So, how do we pursue our dreams while staying aligned with God’s plan? That’s what I want to explore.

God Created Us with the Ability to Desire and Create 'Goodness'

One of the most reassuring truths I’ve found is in Genesis:

"And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." (Genesis 1:31)

God created us and called us good. That means our ability to desire, dream, and create isn’t something to be ashamed of—it’s a gift. Our capacity to take action, learn, and grow is part of His divine design.

I believe God wants us to co-create with Him, not sit back in fear that we’ll get it wrong. The key isn’t to suppress our desires but to bring them into alignment with truth.

The Struggle Between the Natural Man and Our Spiritual Identity

I’ve noticed in my own life that there’s often a tug-of-war inside me—one part that operates from faith and trust, and another that operates from fear, doubt, and the need for control.

Scripture describes this as the battle between the natural man and our spiritual identity. The natural man/woman tends to grasp for certainty, avoiding discomfort at all costs. But our spirit longs for truth, growth, and alignment with God.

When I’m manifesting from a place of fear—trying to force things to happen—I can feel it. It’s exhausting, anxiety-inducing, and never quite satisfying. But when I align with God’s truth and surrender my need for control, things unfold in a way that feels meant to be.

The Science of Consciousness & Manifestation

Something that has helped me understand this concept on a practical level is Dr. David Hawkins' Scale of Consciousness. His research shows that human emotions and states of being exist on a spectrum:

  • Lower levels: Fear, pride, and the need for control—these often lead to struggle and scarcity.
  • Higher levels: Love, peace, and truth—these open us up to trust, expansion, and divine guidance.

I’ve found that when I try to manifest from a lower emotional state, things feel forced and unfulfilling. But when I elevate my awareness—choosing to trust, seek truth, and align with God—opportunities come more naturally. It’s not about manipulating reality; it’s about shifting my own heart and perspective.

How to Know If Your Desires Align with God

I used to wonder, How do I know if what I want is part of God’s will? Over time, I’ve learned that the best way to discern this is by checking my alignment:

  • Am I keeping God’s commandments? Truth is always in harmony with God’s laws.
  • Am I repenting when needed? If I realize my desires are rooted in pride, fear, or control, I adjust.
  • Am I asking in faith? Faith means trusting that God’s timing and wisdom are greater than mine.

I’ve noticed that as I focus on truth over comfort, my desires shift:

  • From seeking what’s easy to seeking what’s true.
  • From craving external validation to trusting God’s affirmation.
  • From striving for control to surrendering to divine timing.

This process isn’t always comfortable, but it brings peace.

Not Every Spiritual Answer Comes from God

One thing I’ve learned the hard way is that not everything that feels spiritual is from God. True divine guidance aligns with God’s commandments and brings clarity and peace, not confusion or adrenaline type thrills. Truth can settle on me little by little over time like dew on the grass or sometimes like a sunrise, but it's peaceful and solid- I feel it as a knowing and a feeling, at the same time.

I now approach decision-making with this in mind:

If something feels confusing or off, I bring it back to God in prayer.

I check if it aligns with scripture and truth.

I look for the fruit—does this path bring real peace, or does it create inner conflict?

Once my decision is made, I move forward in faith (and a prayer in my heart) with what I feel is right and over time I'm either redirected or reassured.

God doesn’t want us to live in fear of making mistakes, but He does want us to seek discernment.

Manifestation Is About Humble Alignment

For me, manifesting isn’t about making demands of God—it’s about aligning with what He’s already prepared for me. It’s about becoming the kind of person who can receive what’s good.

When I stop trying to control the outcome and instead focus on growing in truth, everything shifts. The right opportunities come, doors open, and I feel at peace whether things happen on my timeline or not.

That’s what manifestation really is—not forcing reality to bend to my will, but becoming the person who can receive what God is already offering.

Final Thoughts: Seek Truth Above All

I share all of this because I know how easy it is to feel conflicted about manifestation, especially if you want to honor God in the process.

If I could leave you with one thought, it would be this: Trust that God has already equipped you with the ability to discern, adjust, and walk in His will. You don’t have to live in fear of getting it wrong. Keep seeking truth, aligning your heart with Him, and trusting that He will lead you.

What do you think? Have you struggled with this question before? I’d love to hear your thoughts—let’s keep the conversation open and respectful!
